Cylinder Block

cylinder-for-heavy-vehicles

The enormously heavy cylinder block houses the cylinders that give an engine its power, and it must be incredibly strong to withstand the immense heat generated by the internal combustible engine. The block itself consists of a single piece of metal. Originally, all cylinder blocks were made out of cast iron, and large engines still rely on cast iron cylinder blocks. Smaller engines, however, that do not generate extreme heat levels use aluminum cylinder blocks.
